ID Verification and Fraud Prevention Policy

We may require identity verification before you book or host. Failure to complete verification when requested may result in booking cancellation, account suspension, or denial of service.
1. Purpose of This Policy
This Policy sets out how booking.bnbhost.ca verifies user identity, prevents fraudulent transactions, and ensures platform safety and integrity. We comply with applicable laws including the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (Canada), GDPR, and global payment network security standards.
2. Scope
Applies to all individuals and entities using the Platform to book or host; all transactions; and payment accounts linked to bookings, payouts, or deposits. This Policy forms part of our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Payment and Chargeback Policy.
3. Verification Requirements
All users may be required to complete identity verification before making or accepting bookings. Acceptable ID: government-issued photo ID (passport, driver's license, national ID); proof of address; selfie for biometric matching; or business registration (corporate hosts). Hosts may need to verify ownership/authorization, property address, bank account, and background checks. Guests may need to verify identity before booking, provide payment method matching ID name, and confirm contact details via 2FA. Failure to provide verification when requested may result in cancellation, account suspension, or denial of service.
4. Fraud Prevention Measures
We employ: automated transaction screening for suspicious activity; geolocation and device fingerprinting; manual review of flagged transactions; blacklist and watchlist databases; chargeback defense evidence retention; rate limiting and IP controls. Violations result in immediate account termination and may be reported to financial institutions, payment networks, or law enforcement.
5. Prohibited Activities
Users may not: create multiple or false accounts; use stolen, cloned, or unauthorized payment cards; submit forged or altered ID; book under another person's name; rent for illegal or unapproved purposes; or bypass verification or fraud controls.
6. Data Handling and Privacy
ID and verification data are processed and stored securely per our Privacy Policy and data protection laws. We use encrypted channels and verified vendors. Data retained only as necessary for regulatory or fraud prevention. We do not sell or share ID information except to comply with lawful requests, prevent or investigate fraud, or for payment verification.
7. Cooperation with Authorities and Payment Partners
We cooperate with financial institutions, card networks, payment gateways, law enforcement, and regulators. We may share transaction records, IP addresses, and ID documents to support investigations or compliance.
8. Account Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts showing fraudulent or suspicious activity; cancel pending bookings for unverified or high-risk users; withhold payouts or deposits pending verification; and permanently blacklist violators. Actions are at our sole discretion and may be without notice if immediate risk is identified.
9. Appeal Process
If you believe your account or transaction was flagged in error: email contact@bnbhost.ca within 7 calendar days with your full name, booking ID, and supporting documents. Appeals are reviewed within 10 business days; decisions communicated in writing. booking.bnbhost.ca's determination is conclusive and binding.
10. Limitation of Liability
booking.bnbhost.ca shall not be liable for loss, delay, or damage from: failure to complete verification; payment delays from verification; account suspension due to fraud; or errors by third-party verification or payment providers. Our total liability shall not exceed the service fees paid for the affected transaction.
11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
Governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada. Disputes to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Vancouver, BC, or binding arbitration at our discretion.
12. Acknowledgment and Acceptance
By using booking.bnbhost.ca you acknowledge that you may be required to complete ID verification; failure to comply may result in suspension, termination, or cancellation; and we retain the right to use verification data to prevent fraud, protect users, and comply with laws.
