Payment and Chargeback Policy
Effective January 1, 2025 · Applies to all transactions through booking.bnbhost.ca
Payments are typically due at booking. Refunds follow our Cancellation and Refund Policy. Chargebacks are only permitted for verified unauthorized card use.
1. Purpose of This Policy
This Policy governs all payments, pre-authorizations, and chargeback procedures for bookings through booking.bnbhost.ca. By submitting payment you agree to this Policy and authorize us to process and retain payments in accordance with these terms.
2. Accepted Payment Methods
We accept payments through PCI-compliant processors such as Stripe, PayPal, or equivalent partners. Accepted methods may include major credit and debit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Amex, etc.), direct bank or e-transfer where available, and digital wallets. All transactions are processed in a secure, encrypted environment.
3. Payment Authorization
By completing a booking you authorize booking.bnbhost.ca or its payment partners to: charge your payment method for the Total Booking Amount (including taxes, fees, deposits); place temporary holds for security deposits; release or capture holds per our Damage and Security Deposit Policy. You represent that you are the lawful holder or authorized user of the payment method, that information is accurate and complete, and that you will maintain sufficient funds or credit.
4. Timing of Payments
Full payment is typically due at booking unless otherwise stated. Some properties may require split payments or advance deposits; the balance will be charged automatically on the date specified in your confirmation. Payment schedules are displayed prior to checkout.
5. Refunds and Cancellations
Refund eligibility is governed by the Cancellation and Refund Policy in effect at the time of booking. After the 48-hour grace period, payments become non-refundable except as permitted by that policy. Refunds, if applicable, are processed to the original payment method within 5–10 business days.
6. Currency and Conversion
Payments are processed in the currency displayed at checkout. If your card or bank is in a different currency, your financial institution may apply its own exchange rate and fees. booking.bnbhost.ca is not responsible for currency conversion charges imposed by your bank or card issuer.
7. Fraud Prevention and Verification
We may request identification or billing verification before processing; cancel bookings suspected of fraud or misuse; and report suspicious activity to financial institutions or law enforcement. Providing false, stolen, or unauthorized payment information constitutes fraud and may result in account termination and legal action.
8. Chargebacks and Disputes
By submitting payment you acknowledge that all transactions are valid and authorized; refunds are governed solely by our Cancellation and Refund Policy; and chargebacks should only be initiated for verified unauthorized card use. Initiating a chargeback in violation of this Policy is a breach of contract. We may provide documentation to the processor or bank, recover chargeback fees and costs, suspend or ban your account, and pursue civil or criminal remedies. We maintain timestamped digital records of all bookings, payments, and terms acceptance as conclusive proof of consent.
9. Host Payments
Hosts receive payouts after guest check-in or as specified in their Host Agreement. Payouts are subject to deductions for service fees, taxes, and verified guest claims. We may withhold or delay payouts for pending disputes, regulatory obligations, or fraud investigations.
10. Failed or Reversed Payments
If a payment is declined, reversed, or cancelled by your bank, card issuer, or processor, the booking may be automatically cancelled. You remain responsible for resulting losses, penalties, or fees. We may use legal means to recover outstanding amounts.
11. Overpayments or Errors
If a payment error or duplicate transaction occurs, notify us within 7 calendar days. We will investigate and, where applicable, issue a correction or refund within 10 business days.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law we shall not be liable for banking or card issuer delays, exchange-rate fluctuations, third-party processor failures, or indirect, consequential, or incidental damages from payment processing. Our maximum aggregate liability shall not exceed the total service fees paid for the disputed transaction.
13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
This Policy and any dispute are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada. Payment-related disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Vancouver, BC, or binding arbitration at our discretion. We retain the right to pursue enforcement or recovery in any necessary jurisdiction.
14. Acknowledgment and Acceptance
By completing a booking or submitting payment you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted this Policy; you authorize all charges as in your confirmation; you waive the right to initiate chargebacks except for proven unauthorized transactions; and you consent to submission of booking records as evidence of authorization.
